MEDIENWERFT LAUNCHES FRONT END USER CONCEPT FOR BAUR MOBILE SHOP
Hamburg, December 2011. In cooperation with the user centred design specialists at Baur Versand, Medienwerft has developed an innovative user concept for the front end of the Bauer Mobile Shop. The aim: allowing mobile access to the supplier’s complete online product range and doubling revenues from mobile users over the coming 12 months.
“By developing Baur’s mobile shopping offering, we are enabling the company to keep pace with the increasing number of Germans now using their smartphone for mobile commerce,” explains Medienwerft Managing Director Hendrik van Laaten when asked about the ambitious project. “It was important to us that we design the shopping experience to be as simple and clear as possible in addition to enabling the full availability of the product range.” The website automatically recognises smartphones when www.bau.de is first opened, with users then directly forwarded to the corresponding mobile overview page.
The previous Baur online shop was already optimised for use on PCs and laptops. Medienwerft has now designed a user interface specifically for smartphones, which allows visitors rapid access to the company’s products. Despite the content being reduced down to the key information, the typical Baur design is also reflected throughout. We successfully implemented our highly functional and impressive shopping solution in cooperation with the Berlin-based technology service provider YOC AG.
