Its first project will be this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, which was held recently and which Görtz sponsored in conjunction with fashion label Kaviar Gauche. The event was reported on in detail beforehand, during the event and afterwards on Facebook. Other projects followed in September, such as the weekly ‘Style Flash’ and ‘I like Buffalo!’ – a photographic competition held on Facebook as well as in actual stores, both channels complementing each other. The aim of Görtz’s activities is to utilise the world’s most important social media platform as a customer forum for direct exchange and for providing quick information to the company’s own Facebook community.

Ludwig Görtz GmbH is a leading shoe retailer that employs 3,800 people and operates more than 280 branches in Germany, Austria, Poland and Switzerland, as well as It views itself as a European market leader in the high-quality shoe and accessory segment. Görtz became in May 2010 the official equipper of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin for three seasons, supplying shoes to employees and helpers at the event. Facebook hosted a detailed preview report including a look at the collection. Facebook members were able to win VIP tickets to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and then report by video on the event, allowing the Facebook community to follow the event live. The aim of these activities was to build up the Görtz Facebook community and to publicise the alliance with kaviar gauche as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The kaviar gauche brand presented its exclusive spring/summer 2011 shoe collection entitled ‘Görtz designed by kaviar gauche’ at the Fashion Week in July. This collection was developed by the Berlin-based label in conjunction with Görtz.
